The Problem

Every day, hundreds of tons of electronics are thrown into landfills. Our planet is hurting.

In 2014,

92 BILLION

...pounds of electronics were buried in landfills. Only 16 billion, or 13% of the total, were recycled. Televisions, batteries, computers, phones, and other electronics contain dangerous chemicals which harm the environment and account for 70% of toxic waste in landfills.

Every year,

50 BILLION DOLLARS

...worth of reusable material is thrown away in electronics. Our devices contain gold, copper, silicon, palladium, and other valuable and rare materials. In landfills, those materials are innacessible, which causes scarcity and prices to increase.

How to help

When you buy new electronics, you're forcing more of those devices to be produced, so buy used electronics whenever possible. If they aren't useful anymore and can't be reused or sold, always properly recycle them at a local recycling center.
